UPDATE 5/DEEP DEPRESSION
DATE: 11 NOV 2021
TIME: 2:00PM BST (+6 GMT)
The Depression over SW Bay of Bengal has further moved on WNW & intensified into a Deep Depression over South-West BOB, close to South Indian coast this morning.
It is being located approximately 50km ESE of Chennai, India.
Multispectral satellite animation is showing good rotations with sheared convection to the west of the exposed Low Level Circulation Center.
Average Maximum Wind speed in radius of 50km from the low level center is 55km/h.
Gusting up to 70km/h.
Upper Level analysis indicates that the system is currently in marginally favourable environment due to moderate to high wind shear offsetting by excellent westward outflow.
Also Having favourable SST (28-30°C) & other atmospheric parameter’s support but land interaction & increasing shear might hinder any further intensification.
Due to the aforementioned conditions, It could maintain intensity of a Deep Depression during next 3-6hrs & then weaken rapidly due to the aforementioned land interaction & high shear.
It could weaken into a Depression within next 6-12hrs & then into WML/LPA within subsequent 6-12hrs.
It has moved on WNW direction during past 6hrs with the average speed of 25km/h.
From the present location, it could move generally WNW towards TN-AP Coast & cross coast near Chennai this evening.
It could cross North TN/South AP coast near Chennai by this evening as a Deep Depression.
Tamil Nadu & South Andhra Pradesh coast might experience of 45-55kph winds with gusting up to 70kph during the landfall period.
Fishermen & Small boats are requested to not to venture into the South & South-West Bay & neighborhood areas during next 24-36hrs. Everyone should cancel all tour plan into deep sea for next 24-36hrs nearing the System Track. Currently, whomever into the deep sea should stay close to the coast or avoid the risky area as stated here.
★Rainfall:- Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh could have heavy to very heavy rain along with gusty winds during next 2/3 days.
